2012 We were in Albuquerque; at a Casino!

We're at the Sandia Resort & Casino. Anyone who knows me well; knows how I feel about gambling but here we are. Yes it's a resort, golf course, swimming, fine dining but when I went to look for my friends in the evening - they were in the casino; having a wonderful time. I usually returned to the room to read a book.

It was kind of a crazy year; we didn't decide to go to Santa Fe until the last minute, some of us were on tight turn arounds; renting a house in Santa Fe wasn't practical. There was no opera as we didn't want to drive 50 miles at midnight. There were no available rooms in Santa Fe. There weren't that many room at Sandia; 3 of us shared a room; cozy.

We had fun. As always, lots of talking and laughing. Our 1st stop was the Pueblo Cultural Center. It's one of my favorite stops - the native sourced, Pueblo inspired cuisine. There's also a small museum, packed with information. It's a great introduction to the area. I try to get everyone to stop by.

Before we made this trip, a cousin in Switzerland ask me to buy a StoryTeller Doll for him. I knew nothing about these figurines and spent most of the 2 days of Market talking to artists; getting a crash course. Fortunately, Emily had a discerning eye and picked out one for me. Turned out it was by a well-known artist, who only lived a few more years and her work is now highly collectible - i.e. super expensive. This was the 1st of many dolls I bought and hauled to Switzerland.

Our group came from Texas, Arizona and Kentucky
