2014 House of My Dreams

This was a special year, for me. Besides my best Cousin/Friends, Sunny and Susan; sister Lizbeth joined the SFSisters as did cousin Mikki from Italy. Mary and Dottie came with Susan. Dottie and I traveled to China together; along with Susan. It was good to catch up again. We had representation from California, Texas, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Italy.

OMG! The House! It was owned by couple from Thailand. She with the national ballet and he, an artist. The house was full of art and decorative memorabilia. All of us with camera were going room to room taking pics. Also an advantage; it was an easy walk to and from the Plaza.

Tell me this isn't quintessential Santa Fe! Casa Nova is our home for the next 5 days.

The perfect living room for relaxing, talking and laughing. Comfy seating everywhere

Arriving at the house proved problematic. Garmen GPS led us to a dead end; fenced off road. You could see the house, you couldn't get to it. We spend 30 mins in a cramped car driving in circles; repeatedly dialing the house phone. Susan and company were at the house and finally picked up our call. Then we had to figure out where we were so we could tell them how to find us. I think they zoomed by us twice before our car honking & my sister flagged them down. Thus our group was named The Wrong Way Sisters.

The legs belong to Sun and Liz - just sayin'

The gardens were beautiful, hummingbirds, rabbits and butterflies were everywhere. Watching Mikki try to take a pic of hummingbirds was entertaining. It was 5 days of entertainment as she didn't give up.

Sun

2 of my favorite people

The mornings were often my favorite. Sun and I are early risers. One of us would make coffee; we'd take our cups, grab a couple of afghans and head to the patio. As we always do; we talk about whatever we're thinking; sometimes agreeing, sometimes not but always interesting conversations. Eventually other SFS rouse and join us. Sun and I were right outside Mikki's bedroom window; we apologized for waking her. She assure us we didn't and it was lovely to be roused by the light, soft murmur of voices and the smell of coffee - which she doesn't drink.

Everyone made their own way to market - some walking; some driving. We keep in touch by cell phone. Otherwise, you're lost in the crowd.

This is Cathedral Ave and it's early; before the crowds arrive. I'm a early shopper, at the Plaza by 9AM and outta' there by 11-12 before the crowds are 5-6 people deep.

It's hard not to eat well in Santa Fe

Somehow, 1st nights we always end up at the Pink Adobe.

I was hot; but now I'm happy!

The Thunderbird was packed but Sun and Liz did some schmoozing, standing in line and got us a perfect table.

Morgan Cousins

Besides good food, what's wonderful about La Fonda is it's perfect location, history and the gathering place when you can't put one foot in front of the other or have one more market goer bump you to get ahead. Someone texts I'm heading to the La Fonda and within minutes we regroup.

Sunday nite at The Shed

The Holler in Madrid is a favorite lunch spot. Besides an interesting drive and far from the maddening market crowds

Our big splurge; dinner at Geronimo's; pouring down rain. We're huddled together trying not to get wet, waiting for our cars. This was Sun's pick and note - she's not there. To be fair, she spent hours on the phone trying to reroute her flight home to deal with a family need. By evening, food was not on her agenda.

Opera Night

Our seats would be those at the very tippy top; the Oxygen Gallery. Seriously, not a bad seat in the house.

Liz spotted the leopard car; checked her dress and made a bee line for for the car and posed. Our own Jungle themed Sister

The Night We Rocked Out

Sunday night after the Plaza cleared, we had dinner at The Shed and decided to walk over to the Plaza - the bandstand had a rocknroll band playing mostly Elvis stuff - impossible not to start moving.

So many moments

This is the year Sun did some special paintings.

PS: Mikki really did capture her Hummingbird pic
