2011 The Gathering

 About February, Laurrie emails me about Santa Fe. Since I told her what a wonderful time we had and I'd like to go back with a group of women - she's in and wants to bring her sister. And ... whether or not I put a group together; she's decided to go to Santa Fe. Whoa! I got busy.

I send e-mails (no ones Texting in these days) to Susan and Sunny - here's my idea; 5 days in Santa Fe, rent a house, go to the opera; maybe a spa day and go to Market - are you in? I checked with 2010 Pam, nope she's traveling and prefers a hotel setting.

Susan responds with a Yes and sends 4 or 5 VRBO possibilities - she's in. Sun's still working (I think), checking her schedule but planning to come. Obviously, Laurrie's in and her sister, Pam.

We had so much fun. The house was up in the hills. The original house was an old ranch house. Over the years, it grew beyond it's humble beginnings. It had 2 kitchens, 3 enormous covered patios, 4 bedrooms, several living rooms. The gardens were like a park on a hill; at the bottom a pool house and swimming pool.

Everyone but Susan flew. Susan drove in her new Lexus. Laurrie and I hung out next to the car, with all it's bells and whistles. If Susan didn't want to drive, she frequently didn't, one of us quickly volunteered. Obviously, both of us had home cars with no bells and whistles of any kind.

Given my experience flying to Santa Fe - expensive and not many flights; we agree to meet at Albuquerque airport.

Turned out this was a family home; used extensively by family members through out the year. They weren't happy to find out the new head-of-the-family rented the home during the prime visiting time. Arriving, we thought it odd that the kitchen was so well stocked; as tho someone had just walked away. It never came up for rental again.

The 1st market day was a bit of a bust for Sun. She was woozy and sick at her stomach. We thought it might be altitude; later learned she was on a new med and the combination of time and place was dreadful. Fortunately, Edwina saved the trip for her. Problem ID'd and solved.

Opera night, I believe we saw La Boheme. Susan went in Sun's place. Sun stayed with Edwina.


Hello Edwina! This is Susan's husband Ed. He recently retired and they wanted to come to Santa Fe and then tour the west. I checked with the women ... how do you feel about having a man in our midst? Ed was a delight and a good sport.

2020 Year of Pandemic and Reunion

 2020  By today, some of us should be on our way to Santa Fe. Over the years women traveled from California, Illinois, Connecticut, Texas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Virginia, Italy, Arizona, & Washington. It's not always easy to get to the Albuquerque airport and onto Santa Fe; year after year Sisters pack their suitcases and make numerous plane changes; by afternoon and evening we are usually drinking wine, eating, Meeting and Greeting, getting to know one another or catching up with the past year. This year, thanks to Sunny's idea and Laurrie's willingness we're having a Zoom meeting/reunion. 2014 House of My Dreams

This was a special year, for me. Besides my best Cousin/Friends, Sunny and Susan; sister Lizbeth joined the SFSisters as did cousin Mikki from Italy. Mary and Dottie came with Susan. Dottie and I traveled to China together; along with Susan. It was good to catch up again. We had representation from California, Texas, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Italy. OMG! The House! It was owned by couple from Thailand. She with the national ballet and he, an artist. The house was full of art and decorative memorabilia. All of us with camera were going room to room taking pics. Also an advantage; it was an easy walk to and from the Plaza. Tell me this isn't quintessential Santa Fe! Casa Nova is our home for the next 5 days. The perfect living room for relaxing, talking and laughing. Comfy seating everywhere Arriving at the house proved problematic. Garmen GPS led us to a dead end; fenced off road. 2020 Zoom Reunion

What a fun and sometimes frustrating (we can't hear you! Why are we looking at the back of Sun's sofa? Great view of your knees!) Zoom meeting. Laurrie you handled the our usual organized chaos with aplomb.  Seriously, for me it was like being in a Santa Fe room with you. Our Zoom hour is fairly typical of a SFS gathering; someone always doing something, making a dinner plan, finding a comfy seat, sharing stories. I LOVED IT! What we didn't do is get many pics - fortunately California and Oregon didn't let us down.  Zofia, Keni & Simone Pam, Keni, Zofia & Linda Zofia Keni Cali contingent at Sun's Orange, Ca home Liz from Medford, Or There was no way with this reunion group to have our annual book discussion - as many of you didn't know we review books. We decided to continue our SFS Book Club via Zoom. The next meeting will be November. I think we said the 1st week of November but I'm thinking maybe not so much with the election that week.
